Hotty Toddy!!!

Well like Beth mentioned we're stocking up on our Ole Miss attire for our future Rebelette. Hotty Toddy!!!

Mom's been helping put together some great things we can use from when I was a baby for the bath tub, for bed time stories, and for cuddling. I couldn't believe it when she said she found my first teddie bear Jakie. I carried him around by his leg until I was three. I'm sure glad I have been reunited with my long lost buddy and he can go back to doing what he does best...comforting. Jakie will be making a cameo appearance shortly; however currently he is in a rapid workout program after coming out of retirement and refused to be photographed...stay tuned!

A Rebelette

Jason is already stocking up on the Ole Miss gear!! We saw this onesie at Babytime & couldn't resist. I'm sure it's the first of many Rebelette outfits she will have.

24 week ultrasound

Just got back from our ultrasound....it's going to be our last one. We love looking at her so we're kind of sad about that. We got to see her yawn on this one & the tech said she's breech right now but that's nothing to be concerned about. She was curled up in a fetal position with her ankles crossed above her head for most of it. She also had her little hand on her forehead like she was swooning...the girls at work saw the picture and all said "swooning like a true Georgia Peach!"

She's a small baby...1 lb 6 oz...she's only in the 29th percentile right now but again, they said that was nothing to worry about. The tech said she could likely be a 6 lb baby, which is perfectly fine with me. As Ms. Dot says "I prefer to let 'em grow when they get here, dah-lin'...."

I've gained 14 lbs so far, which isn't as bad I thought.

Jason starts practice tonight for our annual 4th of July church production so he'll probably be tied up with that most evenings next week. Can't believe it's already that time of year...

The weather here has been good...late 80's..can you believe it? The dogs & I have been enjoying it tremendously, as it's been much safer to let Dixie go with me on my runs.

We miss you all & love you! I'll get the new ultrasound pics out sometime in the next week.

Love,
Beth, Jason & Baby Nickel

24 week update

Baby Nickel has had a big week. She is officially considered "viable" at this point, meaning if she chooses to show up early, (she is a Nickel, after all) her chances for survival would be pretty good. She now has fully-developed eyes, ears, fingernails, eyelashes & eyebrows. Her lungs are now secreting 'surfactant'....which is a surface-activated fat that assists her little lungs during inflation. Her taste buds are beginning to form and over the next week, her sweat glands will begin forming. She also has a hand & startle reflex...which may explain why every time I poke my stomach, she pokes back!

She spends her evenings doing somersaults & karate chops...but only after I've laid down to attempt sleep. During the day, she's quiet as a mouse.

the urge to hold her is getting really strong...everytime I'm feeling stressed or tired, I think 'if only I could hold her right now then I would feel better...'

Our 24-week check-up is on Thursday...We get to have another sonogram (Yay!) because at the last one, she became pretty uncooperative at the end and the tech was unable to get a few measurements. We'll keep you posted!~

Love,
Beth, Jason & Baby Nickel

6/15/2008

HOT in Memphis! Wow well it's only the middle of June and not even the middle of summer and it was around a hundred here today. Despite what you might hear from the weather forecasters around the country they're not stepping outside and working in the yard in this. We're still diligently working away and Beth's garden looks great.

When I can't work outside I'm inside painting away. I'm working on a project for the TV room right now and when it's finished I'll make sure to post a pic.

Beth and I bought our little Rebelette this weekend her first official Ole Miss onesie; she's going to look great and we continue to piece together all that we'll need to make her and us comfortable when she arrives. Still not finished with the nursery but we're getting close. Beth and I have been carefully searching for some neat things to hang on her walls' and finally think we've found what we want. Stay tuned!

Have a great week and I'll continue to be in touch.

06/01/2008 By Jason...

My first official blog of the year...it's halfway over. Well better late than never right? Things are going well for the start of the summer. Beth is clobbering her fellow sales mates at Sona and I'm so proud of her. She took a week off in May and still was the top sales woman in the Memphis office! I'll brag on her since she won't.

Today was a hot one! 93 dang! We worked away in the yard today mowing, planting, edging, yada, yada, yada. I was diligently working away at the hedge line of several bushes and cut the extension cord right in two thus ending the days work with anything electrical. I rock and I'm a blithering idiot. However the yard does look good for what we did get done and it looks like rain tonight so our timing, as usual, was impeccable. We took a few pictures so we'll be downloading those shortly and we're going to do a summer progression since we have a few projects pending so if we're diligent you can keep up.

Still working on the baby's room but it looks good, it like the rest of the house is a work in progress only this one has a deadline.

Stay cool everyone, have a wonderful week, and I'll be back shortly!
